Abstract
The Metaverse, this post-reality universe that combines physical and digital multiuser virtual environments, is slowly opening and expanding a new era of education, making learning no longer limited by traditional boundaries of time and space. Learners can engage in multi-sensory interactions with others through digital avatars, using immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and even mixed reality (MR), to connect virtual/real communities and online platforms. The Metaverse has the characteristics of immersiveness and interoperability; these characteristics are well reflected and embodied in VR. We can use VR media to break through the barriers of the virtual world.
This ISA seminar will start from the basic educational applications of extended reality (XR) including VR and AR, and then move towards the VR world of the metaverse, focusing on its applications and prospects in education. For us, what is the the good, the challenge, and the opportunity of these new technology possibilities? It is worth thinking about the challenges and opportunities of learning technology and its applications in metaverse education.
