Dr. Kai-Yuan (Kevin) Chao 趙開元received his B.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering from National Tsing Hua University 清華大學, Taiwan and his M.S.E. & Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.  He is the R&D Group Director leading technology pathfinding in Synopsys after retired from Intel.  Dr. Chao was leading Cloud Silicon Data Center design/manufacture technology for Xeon chipset, 3D Xpoint memory controller, and microserver SoC. He also has being managing floorplan & fullchip assembly automation, interconnect, DFM, thermal and power convergence, reliability/IR, and MIM-capacitor/FIVR, for many Intel Core CPU and Pentium 4 CPU development projects since 1995. 

He also has an M.S. from National Yang Medical College 陽明醫學院and served in Radiation Cancer Oncology dept. in Tri-Service General Hospital 三總as a licensed military medical officer.  Dr. Chao also served in technical advisory boards of Atoptech (EDA) and Oridus (internet collaboration/IoT) between 2004 to 2008 and co-authored about 70 conference/journal technical papers.
