Abstract:
AI is the new electricity. It transforms pretty much all industries and creates enormous economic values. While deep-learning is very good at automating tasks and greatly impacts every sector – from manufacturing to healthcare, retail, and auto industries- we sometimes wonder about the sustainability of the development of AI technology and the role of AI in achieving a sustainable human society. In this talk, we try demystifying AI by uncovering its strengths and limitations, AI landing challenges and opportunities, and its impact on sustainable global development goals. By understanding the deep-learning technology better, we hope to prepare ourselves better for the next paradigm shift brought forth by AI, leading toward a sustainable future.
Speaker's Bio:
Trista is a tech executive and AI scientist. She is currently the Chief AI Officer at Inventec, a world-leading tech manufacturer with annual revenues exceeding USD 16 billion. Trista leads Inventec in smart manufacturing, health and medical AI, robotics and autonomous machines, AI on chip, and MLOps. Her team recently won the world champion in USAID Intelligent Forecasting Competition, aiming to push the boundary of global health. In this competition, Inventec's AI model made the best prediction among 80+ contributions worldwide. Previously, Trista held leadership positions at startups and research labs. At the startup Cognitive Networks, which was acquired, she led the algorithm and data team. At Intel, Trista conducted research on computer vision (CV) algorithm-and-hardware co-design. With the Intel team, she also developed the world's most widely adopted CV software, OpenCV, downloaded 18 million times as of 2021. At Nvidia, she architected Nvidia's first video processor. Trista received her Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University and M.S. and B.S. from National Tsing-Hua University. She co-authored 30+ publications, 70+ issued and pending patents.
